Meet Tina and Henry Wong – On April 14, 1983 Henry, Tina, with their 8 year old daughter Karen, embarked on a journey from Hong Kong to Canada. Our “New & Improved” life began in Toronto on a bright romantic day, Valentine’s Day. We have to be thankful as Henry had a job transfer from Hong Kong and continued to work at American Express Canada in their Finance Dept. until his retirement in 2007. Upon retirement, Henry volunteers most of his time with The Children’s Breakfast Clubs and Diabetes Canada Toronto Chinese Chapter, promoting Diabetes awareness and education to Chinese community in Toronto.Tina also worked at American Express as Secretary in the Data Processing Department for 4 years and later in the airline & hotel hospitality industry. Tina followed her passion for flowers and dedicated full time in her own flower shop, 24 challenging years, how time flies.Ask any kids about Canadian education, going to school in Canada is definitely heaven. Karen thoroughly enjoyed her school years, she graduated at University of Western Ontario Business School and was also hired by American Express, Marketing Department upon graduation. After 4 years she moved on to American Express Headquarter, New York.Tina and Henry Wong tell us “We keep a copy of the Lunar calendar at home, this helps us keep track of all the important Chinese dates, festivals. We can thus observe and abide traditional customs on the right day. Asian heritage is always in our mind and soul.
