United We Stand

YRP International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Over the past two decades, York Regional Police in partnership with our community has commemorated International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. During the Pandemic, we have faced challenges such as division, isolation and hatred. As of the March 1st, 2022, the Ontario Government has lifted the gathering restriction of COVID19, we are excited to resume the celebration of this meaningful event with our diverse communities.

In years past, partnerships with our communities at these events have provided us numerous opportunities to stand together and collectively speak out against racism, discrimination and hatred in all its ugly forms and shapes. These events have also highlighted on stage performances, ethno-cultural community booths, displays, music and food reflective of the microcosm of the world that we are privileged to serve in York Region. Furthermore, this annual event which draws between 800 – 1000 people while at the same time showcasing our nation’s pluralism through the values and principles that unite us as Canadians based on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

As we prepare for our upcoming 20th Anniversary celebration themed “Together We Are More”,  we would be honoured if you would accept this invitation to attend our event on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022 from 11am to 3pm at the Crystal Fountain located at 60 McDowell  Gate, Markham, Ontario, Canada.
